Garbage - New Video - ‘Magnetized’

Garbage have released the video for their second single “Magnetized” off their critically acclaimed album ‘Strange Little Birds’ which you can watch below:

Shirley Manson said; "We made the video for Magnetized at Pancake Mountain Headquarters in Los Angeles with an incredibly gifted team under the madcap direction of my next door neighbour Scott Stuckey. We wanted to create an ode to the magic of science and the mysteries of love.“

Scott Stuckey added "'Magnetized' is one of my favorite songs on the album - anytime you get to send 300,000 volts of electricity through an 8-year-old Shirley Manson doppelgänger and the real Shirley, then YES, sign me up!”

Garbage’s sixth studio album Strange Little Birds is available in stores and at all digital retailers. The album was recorded and produced by the band (Shirley Manson, Steve Marker, Duke Erikson and Butch Vig) in Los Angeles and released via their own STUNVOLUME Records.

Ordinary World - featurung Billie Joe Armstrong in his first lead acting role

Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong leads an all-star cast in candid and heart-warming comedy, ORDINARY WORLD released on DVD and Digital Download on 17 October via Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

Former punk rocker Perry (Armstrong) is ten years into his band’s “indefinite hiatus” and struggling with life in the real world. When Perry’s attorney wife Karen (Selma Blair, Anger Management, Cruel Intentions)and his precocious young daughter forget his 40th birthday, Perry’s brother takes pity on him and gives him the money to throw a rock star blowout party at a swanky New York hotel. At the party, Perry’s punk past clashes hilariously with his grown-up reality as he encounters crazy former bandmates, including best pal Gary (Fred Armisen, Saturday Night Live, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy), and an old-flame-turned-manager (Judy Greer, Jurassic World, Ant-Man).

ORDINARY WORLD premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year to widespread praise and features four original new songs written by Billie Joe Armstrong; ‘The Devil’s Kind’, ‘Body Bag’, ‘Fever Blister’ and ‘Ordinary World’, the latter of which is on Green Day’s new album Revolution Radio out via Warner Bros on 7 October.

Kings of Leon - New Album

Multi-platinum selling rock band KINGS OF LEON officially announce the release of their hugely anticipated seventh studio album WALLS on October 14th through Columbia Records. The Grammy Award winning group decided to return to their recording roots in Los Angeles and worked with famed producer Markus Dravs (Arcade Fire, Coldplay,Florence + the Machine).

The album, which comes three years after their Grammy Nominated album Mechanical Bull, has been teased the past several days in a series of cryptic social media posts. In a teaser from the band, Caleb Followill shares a glimpse of what’s to come and gives a mysterious foreshadowing of the album with a voiceover saying, “…the walls come down.” Lyrically, the album will touch on band members’ personal stories, which Q Magazine calls “goosebump inducing” and worth holding your breath for.”

Victorious 2016 - Gallery - Izzy Bizu

Next up on the Castle Stage was breakthrough star Izzy Bizu the highlight of her set was the deliciously catchy 'White Tiger'. This upbeat gem stood out in her set full of nostalgic summery funk-and-soul elements intertwined with her mesmerising voice. Izzy's debut album 'A Moment Of Madness' and the single 'White Tiger' are due to be released on 2nd September.

Victorious Festival 2016 - Gallery - Teleman

A short walk to the Castle Stage was next for Teleman. In constant pursuit of the perfect hook, Teleman gave us a great performance of 'Dusseldorf' which delivers a perfectly crafted pure pop tune whilst combining their melodic indie leanings with Tommy's distinctively vunerable vocals. 'Tangerine' their new single went down well, this live favourite and also taken from their critically acclaimed second album, 'Brilliant Sanity'.

Victorious Festival 2016 - Gallery - Boomtown Rats

Kicking off the weekend's live music for us were The Boomtown Rats on the Common Stage. With the 80's new wave classic 'I Don't Like Mondays' singer Bob Geldof was on top form!

Suede - 'Coming Up' 20th Anniversary

Released on 30th September, this special 20th anniversay edition on 4CD plus DVD and media book containing the album, B-sides, unreleased demos and a previously unreleaswed Amsterdam concert. The album will also be reissued on 180g yellow coloured vinyl, along with a bonus LP of b-side tracks.

First released in 1996 ‘Coming Up’ was Suede’s 3rd album and the first with the new line up. The band’s most successful release to date, it entered the charts at number 1 and spawned five Top 10 singles – Trash, Beautiful Ones, Saturday Night, Lazy and Filmstar. The 20th anniversary edition includes a DVD of nine contemporary TV performances plus an hour-long film of the band with producer Ed Buller discussing the writing and recording of the album, all issued for the first time.

Also included is a new note by Brett Anderson about the creation of the cover image, along with the lyrics, hand-written lyric drafts, tape boxes and photos from the band’s collections.  A special limited edition version is available exclusively from the Suede website. Limited to 750 copies it includes a three-track 10” single, featuring “Asda Town”, “Together” and “Bentswood Boys” – Richard Oakes’ first recordings with the band, originally issued as b-sides to singles on “Dog Man Star”.

We recommend checking them out live at Rockaway Beach, a great boutique festival 7-9th October in Bognor Regis where there will be a screening of 'Night Thoughts' followed by a Q&A session with director Roger Sargent, a 'fan favourites' set curated by Rockaway DJs, and the opportunity to win rarities and prizes from across the band's discography... all ahead of their headline performance at our intimate main stage venue on Saturday night!

Various Artists – Rough Trade Shops present: HEROES VOL. 1

Rough Trade are releasing a 2CD compilation of 40 tracks, on 2nd September.

Rough Trade Shops celebrates its 40th anniversary this year and this is the second compilation to mark the occasion. Following our recent cover version selection COVERS VOL.1 (RTCOV1), this double CD is a set of our favourite songs about other musicians, all of which were released in the 40 years since we first opened our front door in 1976.

40 Years. 40 Heroes ... Songs about Prince, Debby Harry, David Bowie, Morrissey, Wu Tang Clan, Frank Sinatra, R.E.M., Tammy Wynette, Stevie Nicks, Nick Drake, Will Oldham, Elvis Presley, Joey Ramone, Dennis Brown, G.G. Allin, Wham!, Johnny Cash and more, all performed across musical styles as varied as you would expect from Rough Trade, especially so with the added caveat of a four decade timeline.

Of course there are tracks from the post punk era that Rough Trade is most often associated with, this time in the form of The (ubiquitous) Fall’s gothic eulogy to Can’s Damo Suzuki, the unique creativity of Psychic TV’s offering to Brain Jones and the pioneering Cabaret Voltaire pay indie-electro respect to James Brown. Elsewhere you will hear psychobilly-noise from the incendiary Butthole Surfers, radio-friendly alt-rock from They Might Be Giants and classic indie hits from Rough Trade alumni Cornershop and Le Tigre. There is a slice of lo-fi funk from Sexual Harassment and expansive melancholic rock from Radiohead alongside heartfelt tributes to The Beatles and Jello Biafra from the much–loved Daniel Johnston and Wesley Willisrespectively. There are beautifully written and performed arrangements from Songs OhiaJoan as Police Woman, Robyn Hitchcock, Mountain Goats, Calexico andSun Kil Moon, tweeness and indiepop from Camera Obscura, Stereo Total and Helen Love and brooding post rock from Mogwai, while Fat White Family apply their signature psychedelic slo-motion baggy treatment to honour Thy Lord Indie God Mark E. Smith. Add in rockers from Pavement and Brakes, electronica jams from Colourboxand Matmos, we even have the iconic Sparks’ honouring Morrissey, and here you have yet another sparkling selection dreamed up by the Rough Trade brain trust.

Each of these songs is a window to a room in the minds of artists, a room reserved for contemplating the art of others, be they influences, obsessions, contemporaries or fantasies, lovers, haters, emetics, madmen, villains or heroes.” Ed Zed, Rough Trade New York.

Leeds Duo NIGHT OWLS Reveal Video For New Single ‘Call Me Out’

Following a triumphant slot at Goldsounds Festival alongside Yuck, VANT, Night Beats and more, Leeds grunge-pop duo NIGHT OWLS have just revealed the video for their latest single ‘Call Me Out’.

Directed by Hornburn Media, the video itself is a tongue-in-cheek, trippy and eye-popping visual for the track which matches their oddball take on grunged-up slacker-pop perfectly, as band members Will and Liam let their...unique...personalities shine in front of an acidic background.

The track is the latest to be taken from their debut EP ‘Informaldehyde’ set for release on London independent label Till Deaf Do Us Party on 10th June 2016. The band have a handful of UK live performances coming up including an EP release show on 9th June at the Brudenell in Leeds.

“Call Me Out is about the damage that toxic relationships can do” say the band about the new single “It’s about putting up with the same old shit every day from someone you lost feelings for a long time ago and being called out on every mistake you make. It’s a song for someone you can’t stand to be around anymore.”

Another fuzz-drenched slab of burnt out slacker-influenced grunge pop, the new material is sure to build on the early attention they’ve drawn.

‘Informaldehyde’ is released 10thJune via Till Deaf Do Us Party

2016 UK Live Dates:

9th June - Brudenell – Leeds (EP launch)
10th June - BIRTHDAYS - London

6th August - The Windmill – Brixton

Bleeker Debut EP

New York City Independent record label Five Seven Music are pleased to announce the self-titled debut EP of Toronto alt-rock outfit Bleeker – featuring five tracks of mammoth riffs and catchy choruses it serves as a fine introduction for an act who are clearly destined for bigger things.

From the opening salvo of lead single,‘Highway’, to the bluesy, excitable riffs of ‘Free’, the EP starts with an aural assault of up-tempo, octane-fuelled, garage-pop. ‘Erase You’then sees the band deliver a Soundgarden meets Black Crows-esque anthem, with ‘I’m Not Laughing Now’showcasing the band’s insatiable ability to devise tracks of a more delicate nature. Finally, the EP ends with the straight up falsetto-led ‘Where’s Your Money’.

What sets Bleeker apart is an ever-so-subtle current of loose cannon danger that courses through every riff, note, and melody of their music. Comprised of Taylor Perkins (vocals), Cole Perkins (guitar), Dan Steinke (guitar), and Mike Van Dyk (bass), the band have been steadily building a loyal legion of fans by touring their native Canada, and are now ready to share their ultra catchy, hook-heavy sound worldwide.

The band recently embarked on a US tour as support to UK rock sensations The Struts and will join The Summer Tour, opening for Sublime with Rome and label-mates, Dirty Heads, across the States in July.

‘Bleeker’ EP Track Listing:
1) Highway
2) Free
3) Erase You
4) I’m Not Laughing Now
5) Where’s Your Money

Their self-titled debut EP is now available across all digital retail and streaming platforms via Five Seven Music.

THE SELECTER/ SPACE/EMMY THE GREAT

Victorious Festival has just announced another wave of acts ahead of the Bank Holiday weekend.  Appearing on Castle Stage is Radio 1’s prime time broadcaster, champion of new music and international DJ Annie Mac. As one of the UK’s most famous DJ’s, she has played everywhere from your own home to stadiums and super clubs across the world and now she will add Victorious Festival to the list.

Victorious Festival favourites, Public Service Broadcasting, the corduroy-clad brainchild of band member J. Willgoose Esq are also added today. Their debut album Inform-Educate-Entertain received widespread critical acclaim from The Guardian, The Independent and many more reviewers for their spell-binding blend of old public information film samples mixed with live new beats from drums, guitar, banjo and electronics. Soak up their unique sounds on Sunday at Victorious Festival.

Wretch 32 will delight crowds at Victorious Festival with his clever combination of Hip Hop and Grime making him difficult not to dance too. Wretch 32 rose to the height of success in 2011 with his album Black and White featuring collaborations with Ed Sheeran, Etta Bond and Example. Lead single Traktor was selected by Reggie Yates as weekend Anthem before going on to debut at number five on the UK Singles Chart and Don’t Go reaching number one. Since then he has been championed by Adidas and Coca Cola as one of the main faces of the London Olympics.

Other exciting additions to the lineup include newcomers DMA’s, Eliza & The Bear and Luke Sital-Singh. All the way from Australia, three-piece band DMA’s will be bringing Britpop back through their effervescent charm with their echoing of bands like Stone Roses. Ones to watch are London Indie Rocker’s Eliza & The Bear who will be delivering their guitar-driven indie-folk hooks and uplifting vocals at Victorious Festival and Singer-songwriter Luke Sital-Singh who was picked up by The Guardian and featured as their ‘New Band of The Day’ for his crooning melodies.
